Sometimes it isn’t what you do—but what you don’t do—that matters. Took my Equinox to get looked at because it was running loud and probably needed something replaced (Muffler, catalytic converter, etc.). They put it on the lift, and sure enough, there was a crack in the resonator. Because of how things were set up and the bracket between the CC and resonator couldn’t be detached, typically a shop would have to replace the entire assembly, including the CC, resonator, muffler, and all pipes in between (prob $2K+). Instead, the guy suggested I take it to a local muffler shop that would cut out the resonator and replace it individually. Much less expensive, and I didn’t need to replace the CC and muffler that are just fine. Thanks, Van’s… I’m already a regular, but I’m even more so now.
